Finding your groove: getting into vinyl with Audio-Technica
I’d like to think that I could’ve been friends with the late Hideo Matsushita, founder of Japanese Hi-Fi powerhouse Audio-Technica. If I could, I’d travel back in time to 1960’s Tokyo, where a young Matsushita curated “vinyl listening sessions” at the Bridgestone Museum of Arts, exposing visitors to the sounds and possibilities of high end audio and the warmth of vinyl records. I imagine sitting with him in a mod coffee shop, listening to the stories of what he witnessed in those sessions, the conversations he had with visitors, and what ultimately motivated him to head back to his small apartment above a ramen restaurant and start an audio company of his own.
In the histories I’ve read regarding AT’s humble beginnings, Matsushita’s motives seem clear. Produce high end audio at affordable prices, bringing audio excellence into spaces and to customers that simply didn’t have access to it before. His first two products, the AT-1 and AT-3 phono cartridges did exactly that, and...
So I bought the HD6xx a few weeks back and when I finally got the packages i got some Noir 99.

Should I exchange the PC38X for better headphones?
I bought the PC38X headphones FOR GAMING and they are great, but I have NO use for a Microphone since I don't do competitive gaming and I was wondering if there were better headphone options at a similar price without a headphone, where (presumably) more of the cost was put into making it sound better. I also find that my PC38X don't get quite as loud as I would like and I was wondering if a cheap amp like the iFi Go link would draw a little more volume out of my phones.

I went with the PC38X since it was considered the best bang for buck headphones. I care most about using spatial apps like DOlby Atmos and DTS Headphone:X. Suggestions are welcome.
Hello, I just joined, primarily for the audiophile products. Looking at purchasing the NHT C3 speakers for our new living room. Space is about 15 feet wide by 33 long and they will fire long ways. Space is just for general listening, music room with all equipment is downstairs, so hoping they will fill it with sound nicely. Cheers.
Just joined, I am a fan of FiiO, and Shure SE series Earphones.
I have used Shure earphone for over 10 years and FiiO DAC/Amp's for almost as long. primarily with my iPhones and BT. With Apple finally going to the USB C connection I can connect my FiiO BTR7, and BTR15 up with a direct DAC connection. I plugged the BTR7 into my Mac Studio with my Shure SE-535's. I was astounded by the sound. At this point I realized that a desktop DAC/Amp was a necessity because these FiiO portable DAC/Amp do not really have to power for headphones. FiiO makes powerful desktop DAC/Amps but I am looking at what is out there. I used to run ASUS Xonar Essence DAC/Amps but they are not longer made. I will lurk and learn.
iPad with m1chip with ru6 into cth-sdac through SPDIF (unbalanced) but listening through balanced 4 pin headphone connector output
Frankly I don’t believe but I’d be interested for somebody else to try it …to my ears with a high rez file the audio is amazingly clear and lively musical the fidelity is unbelievable but I would like to know some body else s honest opinions .,,
is there anybody can supply that setup and review it??????¿
Headband of my Sundaras broke and I had this Audeze style headband down in the crawlspace.
Think it turned out pretty nifty and they feel lighter now and are much more comfortable.
Swap was not hard at all, but saving the original Sundara hardware connecting their headband to the earcups was a no go... Basically had to shear the screws.
Pretty happy with how the whole thing turned out, was a quick "in the moment" fix/project. Took an hour from headband breaking to completed fix.
recently I’ve noticed that every time I find a product on drop that I want to buy, when reaching to the payment page I get the same message over and over again - shipment for this item is unavailable to your address.
i have being buying and using drop for about 5 years. One of the main reasons I did that, was because they shipped unique, boutique products that allowed me to get deeper and deeper into my interest in sound - eventually to a point where I felt comfortable to start creating music.
but as I’m not living in the US, drop is no longer available for me.
we had a good run. Sorry that I have to find it in the annoying and bitter way of going product after product until I’ve reached a solid conclusion.
I bought a pair of headphones that I found, after trying them out, that aren't what I would want. They listed this language:
"RETURNS—NO QUESTIONS ASKED
We get it. Sometimes what you ordered just doesn’t work out. If that’s the case for you, don’t fret! All customers (both US and international) may return this item in new, unused condition within 30 days of delivery."
I've contacted support several times and got NO answer about how to return these. It's been over a week. How do I get this to happen?

Note to anyone not from EU or USA. Do not buy from this site!
TBH this site has one of the worst shipping experience/ customer support that I have ever went through and it is not worth it. My order has been pending for 2 months with very bad support telling me last time to wait more! when it is clearly stated that "3 to 6 weeks from the date of shipping"
That is a f**** joke. waste of time and money should have bought DT990 from amazon and called it a day.
Now let us wait another 2 months to get the f**** refund :)
Combining Topping E30 W Schiit Midgaurd... And why
Drop gives us a chance to play around with cool audio at appealing prices. Sometimes very unlikely choices just work way better than anyone could hope for.
Some time back I bought a Topping E30 to get better sound out of my laptop at work. Well covid hit so I didn't set it up.
I already had a Mytek Brooklyn for headphone duty at home.
Then I was being cheap and wanted to see of Drop may have a Topping 70 or 90 head amp for a super special price. If it happened... I missed it.
So I went ahead and ordered a Schiit Midgaurd to combine with it.
I use Audrivana (just like on my main system). AKG 701 Headphones.
How does it sound? Honestly it's really a lot of fun. The sound is way better than I could expect. Mixing and matching turned out to just balance the best features of each and I grin every time I listen. Classic, Jazz, Indie or Rock.
Hope you all have some fun and grins too.
Recently purchased the mic for the PS5 and I am receding gameplay sound leakage into the mic and was curious if there is a way to fix this without having to lower my mic volume and sacrifice audio
Why does Drop think it's ok to not honor warranty claims?
Bought the PC38X in Dec 2021. Stated on the item - and still on the product page - that they have a 2 year warranty.
For the last 2 weeks the balance is not working anymore, and the sound ends up in just the R side or L side of both. It especially happens when I adjust the volume knob. I tried different cables and devices, same problem.
The Drop rep so far has tried to lie to me several times, saying that:
1) I should try things I already mentioned I tried (they never read my first e-mail carefully)
2) That they're not in warranty anymore (bold lie, as per the website, and they confirmed the order date is within 2 years)
3) That they're in warranty, but no stock is available, so would I accept a $20 Drop credit instead (again a bold lie, they're available and IN STOCK on the website)
Why does Drop think it's ok to blatantly not honour warranty on a defective product, and why is it ok to make-up random excuses every step of the way?
Building a complete drop Hi-fi rack and desk audio setups
I was wondering if there are plans, or an potential interest for drop, to bring an electrostatic ear speaker system back, as well as a solid desktop DAC. Also we have a record player option, but is there enough of a demand for cassettes and other retro formats to get some drop studio products for them. I'd like a cassette deck, FM radio tuner, CD transport with matching style R-2R ladder DAC. And a input receiver/selector, idk what it's called I just mean the thing that would let me change what going to the speakers. Maybe a pair of drop floor standing speakers and speaker amps.
In terms of the cassette deck. just want a quality way to play my cassettes that i get from bandcamp. No need to have a recording feature, would be nice but i'm not going to care too much about that. This is a bit of a request, but I'm also kind of curious what other people have to say about the idea too.
I am a retired professor and have just embarked on learning all I can about quality music storage on my computer. Just sent for new 6xx headphones and can't wait till they come and I can begin to enjoy music files generated by my grandson for me to hear. I am a little late in life getting this project going since I will be 80 in a few months. I also wear hearing aids and am concerned about maximizing my listening quality to great music.
I see the m200mkIII's were sold on here previously, and I wish they could make a reappearance.
What would be even more amazing would be the Swan m300mkII, or, dare I say, the Swan m500...
